DRINK SENSIBLY

If weight loss is a goal for you, the amount of alcohol you consume can have a major effect on the success or failure of your weight management programme for a number of reasons.

Primarily, we often forget that alcohol contains a large number of calories so this alone will cause you to pile on the pounds.

Secondly, alcohol effectively suppresses the body’s ability to recognise that it does not require food and as such makes us feel hungry – which is why we get certain cravings after a few drinks and always want to hit the take-away or kebab van after the pub.

So, our advice is to keep alcohol consumption down – at least while you’re trying to lose weight.

Of course, it’s also important let our hair down, have fun and celebrate every now and then so our final tip here is, when consuming alcohol, try to drink regular glasses of water throughout your celebrations; this will not prevent you from getting tipsy along with your friends but will help avoid you becoming dehydrated and can alleviate the symptoms of the morning-after hangover!
